The earthquakes of 2015 had a devastating effect on many families in the area. As they happened during the day most people were outside working the land and no one in this area was killed. Some were injured, and many had homes damaged or destroyed. SAHODAR was on the front line providing essential emergency provisions, shelter, blankets, clothing, and vital comfort when people were too scared to enter the buildings that remained standing, for fear of the next earthquake. Such was the effectiveness of SAHODAR's response that the government asked it to co-ordinate the relief work in the wider community.
