The local authority has agreed enough money to complete the hospital building . This will not include the interior or the road to the hospital but it is such wonderful news .Fundraising will continue in order to complete the hospital and equip it. The constuction workers have arrived on site despite poor weather conditions and a bridge being washed away . A huge thank you to all who have donated as you have helped to make this happen .The two photographs below were sent today as the construction workers commenced work .
A Big Thank You to everyone who has continued to support the work of SAHODAR through prayer and giving during the time of Lockdown. We are now able to share a photo of the completed church/community building, all freshly painted. You may notice the shoe racks on either side of the door for people to leave their footwear before entering. The building has only been used once so far; the COVID-19 Lockdown has since prevented people from meeting in groups, but we will hopefully see pictures of it being used, once the crisis has passed. While we have not been able to have any fundraising activities involving groups of people meeting up, we have continued to sell ‘virtual bricks’ and also had a Lent Challenge on Facebook, encouraging people to give whatever they would usually spend on the ‘treats’ they were giving up for that period. We have also been enlisting the creative skills of some of our supporters to knit Christmas Tree Bunting - intended to be displayed and sold at an event at the Royal William Yard, Plymouth, on 25th-27th September. Please get in touch if you would like to get involved. The craft fair we were planning for July has been put on hold for now, but we are considering alternative ways of selling work on-line. Since the completion of the church/community building in March, we have been able to send a further £12,840 towards the hospital build - over halfway to our original target of £23,000. Amazing! This amount will be doubled with the Nepali Government match funding. Additional funding for salaries amounting to £4,325 has also been sent this year. The need for better health provision in Garambesi has never been greater; Dr Shiva and his team continue to serve the local community as best they can with the existing facilities until the new build can be continued.
